Luo Xu
1956 Born to a small merchant family in Mile, Yunnan
1972 Was "provided for" by being sent to work at a procelain factory, Mile, Yunnan
1977 Assigned to work on a construction team and had dreams of becoming an architect, but gave them up after discovering mathematical skills were needed, Mile, Yunnan
1979 Decided to be an artist, and started studying the “counter-revolutionary, wrong and rightist” way of painting
1985 Worked in the county culture house as an art designer, Mile, Yunnan
1988 Studied body and form in the sculpture department of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing
1992 Got tired of starvation, quit job at the county culture house, and moved to Kunming with lofty aspirations
1994 Founded an art institution, Yunnan
1996 Started to build earth nests, Yunnan
2000 Has been gardening, lounging on the porch, raising chickens and ducks, and playing with clay, while having solo and group exhibitions here and there
