Biography

Susanne Iris Fornasier was born 07. March 1967 in Mülheim an der Ruhr (Nortrhine-Westfalia) and lives with her family in Schwaig near Erding (near Munich).

Because of her father, the artist Klaus Sievert (conceptional paintings and plastic art), she got in touch with art very early.

During her school years she tried out different painting styles and media, mainly technical compositions like stage setting models and sculptures made out of wood and styrofoam.

After finishing high school she decided to do a technical education and got a certificate as "technical design assistant for wood- and metal design". During that time constructive and technical drawing came to the fore.

Subsequent to this education she studied economic geography at the Technical University of Aachen and focused mainly on cartography.

After giving birth to a son in July 2004 she discovered her passion for conceptional painting again. During that time she met the artist Yvonne Küpker. The result of the mutual stimulus was presented in their first joint exhibition in the town hall of Bockhorn at the beginning of 2006.

Statement
Coming from a more technical/handmade background I understand my work as either technical or tangible. Being always a generalist I combine my various talents and interests and therefore try to find always new ways to express my ideas. Some may say they miss a thread through may work. But testing new ideas, modifying techniques and combining craftsmanship with the overwhelming delight of exploration is what I call art.
