Sofia Amar´s art is self learned and thanks to her family roots we define it as deeply international. Her art is a combination that crosses borders through the intensity of colors and textures. She started painting with a clear objective from the beginning,to enter a world hidden in the canvas in order to travel to unknown places. Unknown places created inside of her, full of light, positive energy and strength.

Amar has created her own artistic language from observation reflecting horizons that change constantly with the moon in perspective, allowing to place her art into an unlimited plane with dynamic presence.

This is an invitation to a world to be discovered.

The artistic work (paintings) of Sofía Amar is as eclectic and diverse as her own genealogy. Sofía was born in Spain, but at the same time posseses the desirable attributes of a quite diverse ancestry; reaching back to different countries, such as France, England, Argentina, Spain and Morrocco.

Sofía posseses, in certain sense, the advantage of being autodidactic in relation to her art. Although some might consider this as a disadvantage in relation to her artistic development; upon coming in contact with her works we tend to believe that in her particular case, this acted as a rather liberating influence and an inciting element contributing to impact freedom to her personal artistic vision, genuinely free from certain arbitrary barriers that sometimes (even at an unconscious level) present in other artists’works, by the mere feeling of indebtedness to a particular school and/or movement within the artistic mileu.

The artist reveals to us: “I feel an unbelievable attraction towards the moon, it is always with me, it fills me with a spirit of serenity...” And indeed a great amount of her paintings are representations, created by means of her unique and highly esthetic quality, of her beloved moon! We can immediately sense that these works reflect a special meaning, and a profound emotional feeling of wonder and solidarity towards her favorite artistic subject.
