Janet Allinger

Janet Allinger was born in 1964 in Detroit, MI and lives and works in Santa Cruz, CA. An artist from day one, she perfected her skills in design over the years working along side top designers in the graphic design trade and constantly experimenting with her artistic abilities.

One collection is in honor of modern women who express themselves with piercings and boldly colored hair. The depth and beauty in each "girl" is created with the technical expertise of the artists knowledge of the design program she uses. In her paintings, she brings out once again the beauty to draw the admirer closer to the canvas. Along with the powerful value there is a fun lively side that makes people smile. Her second collection, teh humorous "cartoon minis" are creations of femme fatal fun with titles such as Spaghetti Strap Western, Ray Gun Girl, and Beach Blanket Bitch. She uses hand drawn lines along with the computer skills to create these short cartoon pieces.

Allinger has shown her works at many businesses and shows including the 2002 Open Studio exhibit, which is held in Santa Cruz, CA and the first Santa Cruz Digital Art Festival. She has displayed at the SFMOMA artist gallery at the Fort Mason Center and has been published in newspapers and has had art used for promotional pieces other than her own. Mrs. Allingers has been chosen for Chicago's Women Made Gallery "Her Mark" date book, the Kellogg University art gallery, Carmel CA Winfield gallery, Siggraph animation conference in San Diego CA, Biddle gallery in Wyandotte MI, and also shows at Hotel Biron Thachery gallery in San Francisco, Red In studios in San Jose, POD and Stage gallery in New York and several on-line galleries.

The artist's oeuvre consists of paintings digitally rendered on the computer using a combination of drawing and painting software and then outputs on an inkjet plotter. The works range from 12x12 to 36x36 inches and are mounted and framed. Each digital is a one of a kind signed artist's proof with limited editions of 250. After a digital is complete, she takes it one step further and paints the image onto canvas with bold acrylic colors.
