Christi Compton
My name is Christi Compton. I was born and raised in Everett Washington and moved to the Skagit Valley (Washington) in April 2004. In, 2006, I graduated from Skagit Valley College with a degree in Visual Arts. All of my life I have been creative in one-way or another, which is a good thing since I live in a teeny-tiny apartment with three kids, three cats, 2 fire-bellied toads and a Cockatiel named Putter.
My passion for art lies in taking found objects and changing them, fixing them or completely destroying them in order to make something wonderful, interesting, and beautiful. I can easily see myself out in the junkyard with a hammer and a blowtorch or in some crazy inventors' basement trying to figure out what to do with all the failed experiments.

STATEMENT
My creative approach to a project is composed of purpose as well as imagination. In order to effectively stand out, I strive to think outside the box, while remaining aware of the details. My process of creating a design plays an important role in its success. Since I like to work in different mediums, I look for chemistry between mediums and design elements, and strive to develop original concepts that will support my ideas and inspire my creativity. My design process includes varying degrees of research, concept development, photography, illustration, and writing. When I create, I grow in compassion, skill, comprehension, and confidence as related to my work and the world around me. I create to add something of value to the world and to enrich my sensibilities as a designer by exploring the qualities that naturally lend themselves to my craft.
My future plans are to attend the Seattle Art Institute to pursue a degree, leading to a career in Interior Design.
