Bridget Busutil

Biography

was born from French - British parents in Vietnam and raised in the island of Madagascar , near the other near-by islands, of Comores, La Reunion and Mauritius, where she made frequent trips. Childhood is bathed in color, largely unspoiled scenery, and the strong fragrances of jasmine, coco oil,
sea-soaked air and the unforgettable scent of the land after the rain. Playing with colors seems so natural in this environment. Privately tutored
by a local artist, Bridget wins her first prize at her first painting exhibit at the age of 14. Bilingual education, British and French is achieved through schooling both in Madagascar then in UK.Then to the US for a BA in Studio Arts at the University of Rochester, NY. Life continued to bring a lot of travels for Busutil, bringing her to Paris, where she had her first show as an adult, and spent ten exciting years then onto Barcelona, Madrid, and London as well as different cities in the US. Through her career as an artist she has been teaching and painting and exhibiting in different places .Also she has been showing in New York City for the past ten years. The Natural World is her world and has become her primary concern. The reconciliation of all the different worlds she lived in came through painting.

Busutil, a lifelong love story with Nature. The artist works with (Encaustic: hot beeswax, resin, ,pigments and oils). A 3000 year old technique. Having had the privilege of living a good part of her life in unspoiled Nature, she is concerned with the destruction of that world and tries to talk about it in her paintings.

Artist Statement

Walk out like someone suddenly born into color" - Rumi. Art is about passion, magic, and life with its tragedies, sufferings and dreams. Artists are the soul keepers of this world and their voices must be heard. It has become crucial that we contribute to the peace of the world in all the ways our creativity can be used, Or our souls will dry out like the desert.
