Be the first to know.          Breaking News:    The Columbia Museum of Art will bring in its most expensive exhibition ever next year, one featuring big names including Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Vincent van Gogh.     The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed criminal proceedings against eminent painter MF Husain, overruling the charges of obscenity against his paintings.     Art work from the private collection of Tina and Anil Ambani will be on public view for the first time at Christie's London between June 7 and 10. This will coincide with Christie's June auction.     Russia's booming art market is facing the worst crisis of confidence in the post-Soviet era as hundreds of paintings have been identified as fakes. About 800 works, most still in private collections, are listed in ``The Catalog of Fraudulent Art Works'' now on its fourth volume.     Mark Wallinger proposed a giant standing white horse ( 50 metres) as a work of art to win a £2 million commission for an "Angel of the South" sculpture. He is one of five artists — with Daniel Buren, Richard Deacon, Christopher Le Brun and Rachel Whiteread — competing for Britain's largest art commission.     Yury Samodurov, the director of the Andrei Sakharov Museum and Civic Center, has been indicted over a 2007 art exhibit held at the Center. Important Exhibition Coming To The Columbia Museum of Art

National Museum Wales, known for having one of the finest Impressionist art collections in Europe, is sending to the U.S. highlights from its remarkable Davies Collection, an extraordinary group of 19th- and early 20th-century paintings that is renowned for its beauty and quality. These works, which helped shape the course of Western art, were assembled between 1908 and 1923 by sisters Gwendoline and Margaret Davies. The collection is exceptionally strong in Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works and includes masterpieces by, among others, Cézanne, Corot, van Gogh, Monet, Daumier, Manet, Millet, Pissarro, Renoir, Turner and Whistler. Turner to Cézanne features 53 stunning works of art, seen together in the United States for the first time. The exhibition will travel to only five venues and the Columbia Museum of Art is the opening venue. The Columbia presentation is made possible by the Blanchard Family.

UIMA Director Collinson Resigns; White Named Interim Director

uima Howard Creel Collinson, director of the University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) since February 2000, has announced his resignation effective May 5. Pamela White, director of UI Pentacrest Museums -- the Natural History Museum and the Old Capitol Museum -- will serve as interim UIMA director, according to UI Executive Vice President and Provost Lola Lopes. A national search for a new UIMA director will be launched at a later date.
